Description:

Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Business Operations with matrix reporting to Patient Care Directors, the Health Care Reimbursement Analyst I (Charge Analyst) enters, reconciles, and audits department charges. The position is responsible for working with department and non-departmental staff to rectify incorrect or missed charges. Additionally, the incumbent generates financial reports and participates in process improvement efforts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

CHARGE CAPTURE AND RECONCILIATION
Conducts audits and reconciliations for charges to ensure that charges are accurate, billed correctly and supported according to documentation.
Assigns codes such as ICD-10, HCPCS and/or CPT for ultrasounds performed in OBER and inpatient scans.
Collaborates with clerical staff/nurses/providers, Revenue Integrity, and Information Systems, to identify and rectify incorrect or missed charges.
REPORTING AND DATA ANALYTICS
Develops daily reconciliation reports and assists leadership in maintaining accurate and timely charges.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
Participates in process improvement initiatives and assists in collecting data regarding financial quality measures.
Recommends improvements and modifications to departmental operating procedures to maximize operating efficiency and reimbursement.
Keeps abreast of current changes in Nursing & Hospital Finance Policies and Procedures.
GENERAL/ADMINISTRATIVE
Supports invoice processing in partnership with other departments.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:

A. Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, management, or finance.

B. Progressively more responsible work experience that provided a knowledge of generally accepted principles, theories, and practices in healthcare/medical billing.

2. One (1) year (12 months) of professional experience in third-party reimbursement for health care facilities (such as an accountant or auditor).
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional coding certification such as RHIT, CCA or CCS.
Revenue cycle operations and /or clinic operation particularly in Obstetric and Gynecology.
Knowledge of government and commercial payer requirements to ensure accurate and compliant charging billing of hospital services.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
