Job Description
Must be able to perform routine preventative maintenance procedures on all automated and non automated equipment. •Must be able to operate the various pieces of automated and non automated equipment associated with each of the departments in a safe manner. •Must be able to evaluate specimen quality, media, reagents standards, and result of quality control; assess validity of lab results, recognize errors, and implement corrective action under the supervision of a medical technologist, section chief, assistant technical director, technical director, or medical director. •Responsible for working knowledge of procedures for sending out specimens, preparing reagents and cleaning of equipment and other laboratory apparatus. •Responsible for quality control; documentation of corrective action and inventory recording system under the supervision of a section chief or the laboratory directors. Must actively participate in laboratory QC programs. •Successfully performs phlebotomy and arterial punctures on patients of all ages. •Manage adverse patient reactions to phlebotomy and arterial puncture. Is also familiar with geriatric and pediatric care. •Performs all procedures offered in house by the Laboratory. •May be required to work any shift, weekends and holidays.
