Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Consultant Intern will collaborate on government health care program pharmacy projects, communicate with clients, analyze drug pricing data and other factors related to pharmacy reimbursement; work with analysts, programmers, and database administrators to build pharmacy pricing systems and fiscal models; and review pharmacy claims for accuracy and appropriateness.
Essential Functions:
Collaborate with staff; listen and communicate effectively
Participate in client meetings and work in a team-based environment
Review drug pricing data and apply client approved methodology to set reasonable reimbursement rates
Perform pharmacy related performance audits of health plans
Prepare and review reports and workbooks for clients
Provide clients with requested reports, fiscal models and clinical analysis
Maintain security and confidentiality of all protected health information encountered during performance and other essential functions
Additional responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
Working towards or currently enrolled in a PharmD program from an ACPE Pharmacy Program, pursuit of PharmD/MBA dual degree a plus
Well organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing, both internally and externally
Effectively multi-task with planning and efficiency
Proficient use of office productivity, including Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to function within a team environment as well as work independently
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Coursework or familiarity with government-sponsored health care programs (i.e., Medicare and/or Medicaid) a plus, but not required
The Team:
Myers and Stauffer takes pride in the welcoming and collaborative culture we have throughout our offices. For this position, the intern will report to one of our Managers or Senior Managers and will be assigned a team member as a Peer Contact.
Work Style:
