Job Overview:

The Network Administrator & Recovery/Restoration Analyst plays a crucial role within our IT team, tasked with ensuring the support, optimization, and security of our network infrastructure across datacenters, remote sites, and warehouses. This role demands a proactive approach to network management, disaster recovery planning, and VMware infrastructure support. Additionally, the Network Administrator will assist with general IT support tasks as needed, providing a broad level of technical assistance, and ensuring the seamless operation of our IT systems. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of network protocols, hardware configurations, and virtualization technologies, coupled with a versatile skill set to address a wide range of IT support requirements. This is an on-site position in Decatur, IL and will report to the Senior IT Services Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Network Management: Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, ensuring optimal network performance across various operational environments. Perform routine network maintenance, including software updates and hardware upgrades, to ensure the network operates efficiently and remains secure against potential vulnerabilities.
  • Network Troubleshooting and Optimization: Identify network requirements, assist in network service integration and maintenance, and provide support for network issues. Serve as the primary point of contact for network-related issues. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems to minimize downtime and maintain business continuity.
  • Network Monitoring: Regularly monitor network performance to ensure it meets the required standards and service levels. Identify and resolve bandwidth bottlenecks and optimize the network for performance.
  • Disaster Recovery: Serve as the primary contact for Disaster Recovery initiatives, responsible for developing, implementing, and testing disaster recovery plans to guarantee business continuity.
  • VMware Infrastructure Support: Support of VMware infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, to ensure the availability and efficiency of virtualized systems.
  • IT Support: Assist with a broad range of IT support tasks as needed, providing technical assistance to end users, and contributing to the resolution of IT-related issues across the organization.
  • Technology Management: Stay abreast of emerging networking technologies that could enhance operational efficiency and reliability. Document processes, create detailed network maps, and monitor key network performance metrics.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in network administration, with a demonstrated proficiency in managing network infrastructure, disaster recovery planning, and VMware support.
  • Proven ability to assist with a wide range of IT support tasks, showcasing versatility and a strong problem-solving aptitude.
  • Familiarity with IP management, network protocols (DHCP, BGP, Ethernet, IPv4, DNS), and the configuration/maintenance of network hardware and software.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, capable of effectively supporting end users and collaborating with team members.
  • Certifications: CCNA required, VCP preferred.
