Job Description

Production Supervisor A well-established Non-ferrous metal smelting operation is currently seeking the position of Production Supervisor. Essential Functions of this Position are:

• Safety o Ensures the production areas are operating in an effective and efficient manner. o Ensures both Safe Job Procedures and Department Standard Operating Procedures are understood and followed and all personnel are wearing the designated personal protective equipment during, all phases of production. o Maximizes the use of downtime for critical housekeeping and training activities. o Holds weekly department shift safety meetings to discuss safe working practices o Encourages employee ideas to improve safety for themselves and their co-workers. o Supports employees who safely stop the production process, when there are immediate and recognizable safety concerns.

• Communication o Ability to effectively communicate with all personnel (both hourly and management o Seeks to cooperate with other department heads with regard to materials, equipment, product and workforce. o Informs other departments of any changes, delays or problems affecting production output. • Supervision o Directs all furnace personnel on daily work activities. o Responsible for arranging shifts to cover vacations and overtime situations. o Ensures employees perform their individual job functions in an efficient and correct manner and according to both Safe Job Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures. • Administration o Develops, writes, trains and documents all standard operating procedures relevant to Foundry equipment and machinery. o Responsible for all administrative functions including: production reports, preventative maintenance reports, attendance & vacation reports, payroll time sheets, safety meeting documentation, etc. o Adheres to the labor contract regarding union issues such as overtime, etc. o Notifies Human Resources of any necessary minor disciplinary action (verbal, written warnings) o Consults with Human Resources for any serious disciplinary action (suspensions, discharges). Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.

The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability. • 3 to 5 years of experience, supervising production crews in a union environment. • Knowledge of: induction, melting, gas fired and electric furnaces a plus. • Smelting and refining, also some exposure to pollution control equipment strongly desired. • Ability to work in a fast pace environment with constantly changing priorities. • High school graduate, with college or Trade/Technical School degree or certificate desired • Able to read, write and comprehend instructions in the English language from Management and support services. • Language Skills: Be able to communicate to all personnel in the English language. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus • Mathematical Skills: Must have good math skills that are associated chemical analysis determinations and weight computations.
