Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management is seeking an Assistant Director of Special Events for the Evanston campus.
Reporting to the Sr. Associate Director, the Assistant Director of Special Events will play a crucial role in leading, organizing, and supporting a wide range of events across Kellogg. This position is responsible for the oversight and development of a broad spectrum of events across stakeholders, ensuring the Kellogg brand is represented thoughtfully and that events meet established performance objectives. Collaborating closely with the Kellogg Special Events team, departmental stakeholders, faculty, and external partners, the Asst. Director will enhance the university's reputation through executing world-class special events.
This role is based at our Evanston campus requiring 2-3 days a offers hybrid work arrangements, with a minimum of 2-3 days on site at Kellogg's Evanston offices and additional days working remotely. The applicant must be able to work on-site at various event locations and virtually via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
Some evening and weekend hours will be required for specific events. Limited travel may also be required on behalf of Kellogg events.
Principal Accountabilities:
Work closely with Special Events leadership marketing and communications team and other stakeholders to shape, implement and measure a broad spectrum of events to drive stakeholder engagement with Kellogg.
Responsible for providing guidance, planning and execution support for events and programs; review and assessment of event performance against objectives and developing recommendations that improve performance. Ensure clear vision and strategy are set for assigned events to deliver a best-in-class experience for all stakeholders.
Collaborate with Special Events leadership, the marketing and communications team, and other stakeholders to design, implement, and measure a diverse range of events aimed at driving stakeholder engagement within Kellogg.
Provide counsel and support for the planning and execution of events and programs; Review and assess event performance against established objectives and develop recommendations for continuous improvement.
Establish a clear vision and strategy for assigned events to deliver a best-in-class experience for all stakeholders.
Demonstrates a high level of collaboration and communication with internal and external stakeholders, contacts, vendors and university partners toplan and execute events based on established goals and objectives.Responsible for briefing key partners on event specifics and timelines.
Recommends, develops, and manages the operations of the special events team and project management processes, ensuring project priorities remain on schedule; Clearly outlines roles and responsibilities for each event.
Prepares post-event reports detailing event specifics, attendance statistics, revenues and expenses, as well as suggested improvements.
Provide guidance to stakeholders incorporating best practices and processes, maintaining standards across all activities. Collaborate with IMC team on development of integrated marketing communication plans and ensure effective execution across all events related program elements.
Software Required:
Working knowledge of Zoom / Zoom events
Working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Working knowledge of Google docs
Cvent experience is preferred but not required
BaseCamp, Smartsheet, Monday.com specific software preferred but not required
Reliable high speed internet access is required when working remotely
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
2 years special events, development, marketing, sales or the equivalent experience is required.
