Overview

Salary range for this position is $124,592-$146,577; Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Oncology Pharmacotherapist will lead, develop, provide, and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to the oncology patient population. The Pharmacotherapist will ensure safe, clinically effective, and cost efficient use of drugs. Collaborating with the pharmacy senior leadership to provide decision support for effective medication use in oncology areas. Performs a variety of clinical-staff pharmacist functions involving evidence based, cost-effective pharmaceutical care to patients in oncology settings within OSF HealthCare. Participates in quality assurance/management projects related to oncology and immunologic therapy while working closely with lead oncologists, cancer care center leadership, as well as Pharmacy and Medical staff members.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Performs the general duties of a clinical staff pharmacist.
Provides evidence based, cost-effective pharmaceutical care to patients receiving antineoplastic, immune-modulating, cancer pain, and general oncology therapy.
Promotes and demonstrates rational, cost-effective drug therapy.
Develops and maintains the Ministry Pharmacy Services oncology based collaborative practice agreements.
Evaluates and ensures the quality of pharmacy service in accordance with the objectives set by pharmacy leadership and oncology services leaders.
Collaborates with Ministry Oncology leadership, oncologists, clinical and pharmacy staff to develop and monitor oncology and adjunctive therapy guidelines, particularly as related to new therapies and delivery systems. Serves as a clinical resource person for pharmacy staff within the OSF entities and/or e-Pharmacy.
Develops, documents, and monitors QA Oncology initiatives and contribute to oncology department projects directed toward the achievement of improved service efficiency, drug utilization and patient outcomes.
Precepts health-care professional interns, students, and residents, designs relevant educational programs.
Provides support to oncology related investigational research
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy
Licenses/ Certifications: License (or eligibility for licensure) to practice pharmacy in applicable state. Board certification in Oncology. Pharmacy (BCOP) preferred but is required to be current or achieved within one (1) year of starting this position.
Experience: Completed a PGY1 in Pharmacy Practice plus 1 additional year of practice with at least 50% of time spent in oncology activities (50% of time or more) OR 3 years of focused oncology experience (50% of time or more in a hospital or oncology infusion center setting) with progressively more responsible related work experience demonstrating a gain in comprehensive understanding of medication use process management, leadership and practice management skills, practice related education/training, and use of medical informatics will be considered.
3 years of hospital pharmacy program/services experience.
Other Skills/Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software; Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) OR completion of a PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy
Other Skill/Knowledge: Must comply with state and federal pharmacy rules and regulations.
