Overview

Salary range for this position is $124,592-$146,577; Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Investigational Drug Clinical Staff Pharmacist performs a variety of professional level functions in the development and implementation of research/ investigational protocols involving approved and unapproved drugs within regulatory and hospital guidelines, and the goals and objectives of a particular research study. The Pharmacist works closely with researchers and research support staff, as well as Pharmacy staff members, to ensure all pertinent data relating to study and Pharmacy's role in the study is communicated in an accurate and timely fashion. Maintains detailed records, files, and reports, as required.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Maintains responsibility for the management of the inventory for clinical investigational drug trials; orders, replaces, and returns study materials, as required. Maintains pharmacy records that contain a study summary, protocol, dispensing procedures, completed samples of required paperwork, dispensing checklist, fee schedule, billing procedures and any other relevant materials for each investigational trial. Trains staff anticipated to participate in any aspect of the clinical investigational drug trial. Liaise with principal investigators and/or trial coordinators/research assistants to establish pharmacy's role, determine fee schedules and to implement dispensing, compounding, and billing procedures. Participates in audits of drug inventory, drug dispensing records and files by the investigator and/or study sponsor. Updates and develops policies and procedures related to investigational drug storage and dispensing. Precepts health-care professional interns, students, and residents, as assigned. Performs the general duties of a clinical staff pharmacist.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Requires a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or a Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy with 5 years of hospital pharmacy program/services experience.
Experience: 1 year pharmacy experience.
Licensure/ Certifications: License (or eligibility for licensure) to practice pharmacy in the state of Illinois.
Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency
Experience: 1 year of investigational drug pharmacy experience
Licensure/ Certifications: Board Certification through Board of Pharmacy Specialties
