Overview

Position may offer the option to work remote dependent on the incumbent's location to an OSF HealthCare facility.
Monday-Friday day shift; will occasionally work weekends or evening hours for onsite work and/or upgrades when requested.
Salary range for this position is $133,307-$156,852; Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Informatics Pharmacist uses a combination of computer, information, and pharmacy science to analyze, formalize and model how pharmacists collect and manage data, process data into information and knowledge, and how pharmacists apply available knowledge to decisions and inferences for patient care. Coordinates support for clinical informatics for pharmacy within the OSF Ministry Acute Care Facilities. This position is focused on understanding motives for computerized systems; analyzing, formalizing and modeling pharmacy information processing and knowledge for all components of pharmacy practice: clinical practice, management, education and research; investigating determinants, conditions, elements, models and processes in order to design and implement as well as test the effectiveness and efficiency of computerized information, communication and network systems for pharmacy practice; and studying the effects of these systems on pharmacy practice and patient outcomes at OSF.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Coordinates the support for pharmacy clinical informatics within the OSF Ministry Services. In doing so, organizes and supports the eCoaches at the point of care.
Provides expertise and leadership in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining efficient, effective clinical information systems. Serves as an advocate for management in promoting use of information technology in the clinical setting. Assesses and understands the pharmacy staffs' use of, and requirements for clinical information.
Represents Pharmacy Services by leading and participating in councils, committees, workgroups, and meetings to assist in the development of personnel, metrics, clinical tools, reports, and workflows.
Serves as a Credentialed Trainer and coordinates and provides EHR training and support for pharmacy staff at the OSF acute care facilities for Willow and Beacon modules. Maintains Credentialed Trainer status and EHR functionality knowledge as updates occur in the system.
Provides consultation to leadership and development teams on workflow processes and technological solutions. Develops and implements educational strategies to promote staff understanding and use of clinical information systems for patient care delivery.
Serves as resource for pharmacy personnel and aids in resolving questions related to EHR, policies, procedures, and standards. Serves as a mentor to all staff and students.
Collaborates with IT to develop, improve, and maintain the EHR System. Assists in achieving the goals of Pharmacy Services and the OSF System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Develops and provides various reports for completion of Drug Utilization Evaluations to monitor and audit for efficacy, safety and cost analysis.
Uses empirical and experiential knowledge to broaden the scope and enhance the quality of pharmacy practice for Pharmacy Services. Uses the knowledge of clinical information systems and pharmacy practice to assist clinicians in the delivery of patient care by optimizing workflow to improve patient outcomes.
Supports and is involved in continuous quality improvement efforts designed to increase patient outcomes, increase patient satisfaction, and improve the utilization of OSF Ministry's human, capital, and physical resources.


Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy
Experience: 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience
Other skills/knowledge: Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast paced, detail oriented environment.
Proven to be self-motivated and capable of prioritizing own work load, identifying issues,
recommending changes, and acting to improve pharmacists' use of available information.
Demonstrated ability to assess and identify learning needs, and develop education programs to meet those needs.
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skills to work with pharmacy staff, nursing staff, managers, physicians, and administration and to recommend and implement information system changes.
Strong verbal and written communications skills to assess pharmacy needs and work with multiple departments to create effective solutions.
Licensure/Certifications: Current state license as a Pharmacist
Certified Credentialed Trainer in Epic or certification obtained within 1 year of hire into the position
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Pharmacy Practice PGY1 residency
Experience: 5 years of hospital pharmacy clinical experience.
