Description:

The Pediatrics Clerkship Coordinator helps oversee the daily activities of the third year medical student Pediatrics clerkship. The clerkship is a six week rotation that is part of the core experiences all third year medical students at the UI College of Medicine must complete for graduation. The coordinator helps prepare schedules for the rotation, oversees the evaluation collection process, assists with scheduling of didactics, and helps with other general duties for the clerkship.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Work with clerkship directors to create all clinical schedules for M3 clerkship students, including their time in ambulatory clinic, ED, mother/baby unit, NICU, PICU, and pediatric inpatient (wards) unit, for the six-week clerkship experience.
Maintain records of incoming students, work with office of the registrar to update roster every rotation, organize communication with incoming students including schedule preferences, scrub forms, and subspecialty requests.
Create and prepare all hard copy materials for orientation of M3 students, including clerkship folders, study guides. Many of these duties are typically assigned to a student employee, if one is hired to support the clerkship. M3 evaluations--distribute weekly to faculty and residents, and follow up for completion
Assign/support faculty teaching experiences (noon lectures, simulation labs), including setup of virtual meetings for lectures, and communicate these scheduled experiences to students on a weekly basis (M3 students).
Set up clerkship exam; synthesize, record, and communicate grades and missed topics to students.
Facilitate clerkship orientation and clinical tour (conducted by chief residents) for M3 clerkship students at the beginning of each six-week block.
Maintain communication with all current and incoming students regarding clerkship matters
Attend and participate in weekly clerkship meetings with the clerkship co-Directors
Assist with communication with partnering sites for the M3 clerkship
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
