Job Description

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for reviewing processes as part of Heritage's compliance and continuous performance improvement process. This role will ensure staff fulfill agency compliance and quality standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Willingness to work with people who are attempting to recover from a serious and persistent mental illness
Ability to work as a team player
Ability to tolerate ambiguity, uncertainty, and change
Ability to navigate electronic health records
Demonstrated above average computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
This position requires a thorough understanding of trauma-informed care practices to effectively carry out their roles. This knowledge is essential for providing optimal support and services to individuals in a manner that is sensitive, empathetic, and effective.
Core Responsibilities:
Provide training to new employees on documentation requirements and best practices at time of hire and ongoing as applicable
Develop compliance training materials based on continued performance improvement review/feedback with new staff
Ensure staff members conform to industry regulations and agency policy through quarterly completion of utilization review
Prepare written reports/procedures and assemble data
Obtain OIG Investigator and Healthcare Compliance credentials and assist in conducting investigations
Assist in staff education related to compliance
Assist in coordination of agency accreditation efforts (CARF)
Assist with activities related to agency contracts/grants with local, state, and federal funders
Work with staff to develop, maintain, and implement plans to achieve quality improvement goals
Assist with maintaining MOUs/MOAs, policies/procedures, and contracts
Education and/or Licensure Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant human service filed is preferred
Minimum of 21 years of age
Candidates will also need to complete a compliance-related credential within 2 years
A valid driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of automobile insurance coverage are required.
