Job Description

A Brief Overview
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for oversight of the global budgeting process, global analytical analysis of financial results and trends, global operational reporting, N. American sales commissions calculations and administering data flows between operating systems and reporting systems. In addition, this role is expected to develop the FP&A team, enhance current FP&A processes by establishing automated reporting and methods to reconcile operational reports to financial statements. The Director of FP&A is also expected to contribute to and sometimes lead strategic finance transformation initiatives including, but not limited to system implementations, due diligence and integration efforts. In addition, this position is expected to work across the global organization, private equity and C-suite in leveraging their industry experience, critical thinking, and influence to help AIT meet our growth and efficiency objectives.

Essential Responsibilities & Activities

  • Global Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversight of global budget process. Establish budget timeline and drive adherence. Meet with all relevant business leaders. Run executive review meetings. Monitor budget email. Answer questions and research issues. Administration of budget software (currently Bizview). Build/adjust/publish input forms. Bring in PY activity, FX rates, etc. Manage users. Potentially transition to new budget software. Oversight of daily projector process. Maintain and report pro forma financial statements. Develop process for ongoing budget adherence throughout the year.
  • Operational Systems Specialist: Develop system matter expertise on shipment level data (understand flows, recognition process). Establish oversight on shipment level data integrity (salesperson, customer coding, vertical coding). Understand data flows between operational systems and reporting systems. Collaborate with IT group to ensure data flows are clean and simple. Establish controls on data flows to reduce exposure for errors. Drive change regarding the use of systems, business processes and strategies to identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives as the Company evolves into new geographies and services.
  • Operational Reporting: Various leadership reports – ROSI, various sales reports. Oversight of sales commissions calculations and reporting – establish a way to automate. Origin/destination reports for tax calculations. Quarterly and Annual Census reports. Collaborate with business unit leadership to prioritize and allocate appropriate resources in the execution of strategic initiatives. Support business strategy projects by owning project management, financial analysis, and key work streams. Lead and support cross-functional global teams to efficiently answer and implement solutions to strategic questions and concerns. Lead profitability focused reporting improvement initiatives with respect to product level profitability, transfer pricing policies, including allocations of and reporting on overhead and cross-geography expenses.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze facts and data to form unbiased evaluation to provide commentary for management. Understand SQL language, write complex queries to extract insights from large datasets. Liaise with senior management, heads of departments and other key leadership figures. Analyze past/current financial performance, identify trends to make recommendations for financial optimization. Find and analyze leading market indicators that may lend to forecasting. Evaluate new and existing projects to determine their validity and appraise their value.
  • Special Projects:Financial System Implementations. Assist in the management and integration of acquisitions from due diligence, pre-closing preparation to day one execution to ultimate value realization. You will manage a strong playbook plan, ensure all the Finance stakeholders are onboard and aware and make sure the plan is executed well. Participate in the due diligence process, both to identify risks and roadblocks and to help inform our integration strategy and process. Lead other ad hoc strategic research and analysis to support the executive team and broader business planning to inform management, identify and assess new opportunities and inform our business strategies. Participate in due diligence activities with M&A targets in cooperation with our private equity partner.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required and
  • Master's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 15+ years Financial Planning & Analysis Required
  • 15+ years Experience working as a financial SME in a global organization operating systems. Required
  • 10+ years Systems implementation experience Preferred
