If that sounds like you, then you’ve landed in the right place. The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Manager will be responsible for:

+ Fostering a collaborative environment with internal /external business partners and customers to understand needs as well as emerging trends within their assigned area

+ Demonstrates effective time management skills, flexibility and proactive execution to balance multiple priorities

+ Possess analytical skills and techniques to effectively manage the inventory within Territory and to assist others within SIU

+ Travel to claim offices within the assigned Territory to support relationship building, organization collaboration, identify improvement opportunities, and to coach & mentor their direct reports

+ Effective collaboration & relationships with all Business Partners within their assigned region while marketing SIU services and educates center personnel as to value proposition of SIU

+ Responsible for the overall fraud awareness level within their assigned Claim Centers & Specific Lines of Business

+ Identify continual training needs and opportunities, along with having oversight of the coordination local training programs using SIU Subject Matter Expertise and SIU Field Resources where needed

+ Coordinate with Claim Regulatory Compliance, to ensure the tracking and documentation of Fraud Awareness Training in their areas to remain in compliance with State / Federal Regulatory Requirements

+ Oversight for the overall SIU Referral Acceptance, Assignment and Rejection process within their assigned territories

+ Responsible for work inventory management within their assigned territory, while continuing to evaluate staff needs based on referral volume and anticipated new business projections

+ Oversight of the handling of all Fraud Analytics Technology in their assigned territory to ensure proper handling of the models, along with maintaining continued feedback by the Investigative Specialists pertaining to the performance of the Analytics Models

+ Mentor & coach in line with the Hartford Management Model to members of team and possibly others of the larger organization, depending on needs

+ Interface with SIU Community and Law Enforcement: Participate in industry meetings and is aware of developments and emerging trends related to insurance fraud schemes.

+ The Manager must be able to liaison with industry peers and leaders and where necessary, interface with law enforcement per prescribed jurisdictional requirements and must be able to recognize opportunities to leverage information to appropriate personnel within The Hartford

+ Lead or assist on SIU or internal project teams as assigned.

+ Maintain a clear understanding of effective coaching and mentoring techniques, appropriate investigative techniques, laws pertaining to insurance claims, mandated reports, good-faith investigative techniques and understanding of emerging issues impacting property and casualty and group benefits claims

+ Fully comply with statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements

+ Effectively communicate and teach a thorough understanding of business vision, strategies and plans for achieving business goals

+ Effectively train, coach and develop staff to enable optimal job performance and the achievement of individual and professional goals

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

+ Minimum of five years special investigation insurance claims experience and/or investigative law enforcement experience required.

+ Designations in CIFI, FCLS or FCLA are strongly preferred.

+ Leadership experience which may include: direct team oversight, project work and/or training/mentoring experience. Prior management accountability strongly preferred.

+ Familiarity and fluency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to leverage these tools to assist with gathering and analyzing data, organizing resources, managing performance, and meeting target claim objectives.

+ Effective partnership and collaboration skills are required in working with diversified groups. Identify issues and contribute new ideas and innovative thinking in surfacing solutions.

+ Act as a champion to specific line of business to provide anti-fraud information along with any trending and emerging issues on a national level.

+ Understanding of the regulatory environment.

+ Expense management for their geographic areas.

Additional Information:

+ This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Scottsdale, AZ, and Naperville, IL) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

+ For full-time, occasional, part-time, or remote positions: (1) high speed broadband internet service is required, we do not recommend or support DSL, wireless, Mifi, Hotspots, Fiber without a modem and Satellite; (2) Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway is hardwired to the Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable; and (3) minimum upload/download speeds of 5Mbps/30Mbps will be required. Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$104,304 – $156,456
