Position Overview
The Financial Consultant will primarily perform financial analysis and regulatory consulting services on behalf of Risk & Regulatory Consulting LLC (RRC) clients, which are mainly state insurance departments. This position has significant opportunity for advancement as well as personal and professional growth.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Perform risk-focused financial analysis as a primary analyst to assess insurer financial condition and compliance with laws and regulations (e.g., complete risk assessment worksheets, write/update Insurer Profile Summaries and Group Profile Summaries, etc.).
Perform a supervisory review of primary analysts' financial analysis work, when requested.
Network with other Chief Analysts from other state insurance departments.Drive RRC's sales process with prospective and existing clients of RRC (e.g., initiate contact and reach out to Chief Analysts (or equivalent), market RRC's financial analysis services and capabilities, help write proposal content, and respond to financial analysis RFP/RFQ opportunities, etc.).
Articulate clearly to current and prospective clients the services that RRC can provide and follow through on potential opportunities to closure.Upon hire, work with Career Advisor and Lead Partner to establish specific annual sales and growth goals and align them to goals, objectives, and expectations for this role.
Establish and hold self accountable to annual sales metrics established with Lead Partner.
If requested, attend NAIC National Meetings to drive sales and growth opportunities in the financial analysis space.
Perform holding company system analysis and other group-supervision services.
Review insurer regulatory filings, including requests to approve acquisitions, transactions, dividends and restructurings and own client deliverables based on review and assessment of these documents.
Review company licensing and expansion applications.
Review and assess Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) filings, when requested, and complete ORSA assessment documentation.
Supervise, train, develop, mentor, and motivate RRC junior-level financial analysts; if requested, serve as a Career Advisor for staff.
Assist in responding to troubled-company situations and perform related analysis related procedures.
Prepare and deliver client and RRC specific training programs and webinars on financial analysis related topics in accordance with the NAIC's Financial Analysis Handbook guidance (e.g., lead development of agenda, prepare/update materials, and lead presentations (involving other team members where appropriate).
Recommend actions to help enhance insurer solvency and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Prepare clear, complete, concise, and informative documents, reports, and executive-level summary materials where and as necessary.
Document work comprehensively and clearly in TeamMate software.
Consistently enhance knowledge of insurance regulatory matters, including statutory accounting, insurance laws and regulations, and regulatory best practices.
Required Background and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred
Minimum of 10+ years relevant experience as a financial analyst, accountant, auditor or examiner with a state insurance department, regulatory consulting firm, public accounting firm or insurance company
Insurance-industry experience is required
Dynamic/flexible demeanor with exceptional client service skills
Strong interpersonal, presentation, analytical and analysis skills
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, projects and assignments
Strong business development experience, sales acumen, and ability to network effectively with clients and prospects to pursue and drive growth opportunities
Self-motivated, with the ability to work well independently and with a sense of urgency
Strong team building and training/development skills
Attention to ethical behavior/integrity and adherence to professional standards
Strong PC skills, including experience in MS Office suite of products
