The Association Director of Sports is responsible for the design and implementation of activities that support the realization of best practices, quality assurance, policy compliance, and member satisfaction for Sports programs delivered at YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago's Community Hubs. The Association Director of Sports is responsible for supporting the development and evaluation of sports programs, management of key personnel, program budget design and fiscal management, and to ensure that all safety and quality standards are met to create the highest quality environment to facilitate the desired member experience.
Salary range starts at $75,000+ per year with full-time benefits and opportunities to grow within the organization

Scope and Responsibilities

Compile and maintain a comprehensive inventory of all Sports programs across the Association
Prepare analytical and narrative reports related to Sports programs as required
Collaborate with internal analysts to identify/define trends and interpret their implications
Ensure quality assessment and consistent implementation process
Perform objective assessments on all Sports operations to ensure mission achievement, quality, efficacy, safety and attainment of benchmarked goals
Ensure the quality of program delivery conforms to standards and is consistent across all Community Hubs
Ensure consistency from center to center and across delivery platforms
Ensure and maintain all necessary staffing qualifications are met
Implement effective assessment processes to ensure compliance and quality of staff
Contribute to efforts that inform the selection and assessment criteria for prospective and hired staff based on thorough research and reviews
Serve as an operational liaison for growth initiatives championed by internal and external Sports program development partners
Work closely with the Risk Management Department to support the implementation of safety standards, including direct assistance and support as requested
Provide counsel and support to branch executives regarding achievement of program targets, recruiting, and performance management
Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop performance metrics to measure progress and performance and ensure that evidence-based programs are implemented with fidelity
Develop opportunities and resources to meet staff training needs; provide guidance/coaching to center staff based on strategic plan goals
Provide training and professional growth for all sports programming staff to ensure program requirements are met
Ensure safety procedures are followed and all programs are in compliance with YMCA policies and standards, all other regulations and applicable standards
Communicates a clear vision for the mission and goals of the YMCA which inspires and engages internal constituents and the external community
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in recreation or a related field

A minimum of 5 years of Sports program management and supervisory experience

Must possess clear understanding of Sports trends and safety guidelines

Must possess knowledge of the field of sport for youth development and SEL practices

Financial acumen and experience creating, managing and analyzing budgets

Experience managing program-related grants, including execution, reporting requirements, budget compliance, and program evaluation

Outstanding instructional skills, including ability to motivate and lead individuals at a high level

Proven organizational and project management skills

Demonstrated ability to build relationships with different stakeholders

Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)

Excellent facilitation skills and training skills

Proven ability to prioritize and take initiative

Ability to travel to different locations throughout Chicagoland

Flexible hours including some nights and weekends
