Position Overview
Join our team as a Senior Accountant at the Department of Finance and Administration! In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a complete set of general ledger books by fund for all programs administered by the Department, analyzing obligations and expenditure patterns, and ensuring accurate accounting records. You will supervise the operation of state accounting systems, review financial payment requests, oversee Federal financial reporting, and ensure compliance with contract and grant requirements. Essential Functions- Performs professional accounting work in maintaining a complex, complete set of general ledger books by fund (state and federal) for all programs administered by the Department. Analyzes obligations, expenditure patterns, and accounts receivable. Alerts supervisor to potential problem areas. Discusses fiscal matters with program staff. Assists program staff with fiscal questions. Reviews, reconciles, and approves accounting records from the statewide accounting system to the Comptroller’s system. Verify expenditures and obligations have posted to the proper appropriation account and grant budget element (if applicable). Works with staff to correct errors.
- Develops workflows and supervises the operation and maintenance of various state accounting systems which establishes appropriations line-items, grant budget elements, and internal order hierarchies. Plans, assigns, oversees, and reviews the activities of staff engaged in the review, analysis, and auditing of various financial payment requests. Coordinates and oversees the maintenance of financial information for Federal financial reporting, accounts receivable, and Court of Claims.
