About the Department
Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) engages alumni (~220k), current students, parents, and friends of the University through intellectual, professional and social activities on campus, around the world and online. ARD raises $600 Million annually to support faculty and researchers, practitioners and patients, and students and programs across the University. Our work supports priorities in every division, school, department, and institute.
The Donor Relations team manages and promotes best practices in donor stewardship to enhance relationships with and increase the engagement of the University's alumni, donors, and friends.
Job Summary
This position performs a range of professional activities related to the donor relations program to enrich the relationship between donors and the University, with a moderate level of guidance. Coordinates communication strategies for publications related to donors and volunteers, acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills.
Responsibilities
- Manages detailed data analysis projects and becomes proficient in the University's relationship database (Salesforce) to aid in the stewardship reporting process.
- Supports all stewardship activities of the Associate Director and Senior Associate Director such as reporting, student interactions, and data collection and organization.
- Helps manage and execute programs to acknowledge, recognize, steward, and engage donors.
- Executes stewardship for the College and other areas of the University, including annual stewardship/impact reporting to donors who support College financial aid.
- Contributes to team meetings and internal presentations on stewardship best practices.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of donor recognition processes on campus.
- Seeks opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance including attending webinars, seminars, building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.
- Assists in planning and implementing University-wide stewardship program for donors who have established scholarships, professorships, fellowships and other named opportunities.
- Collaborates with others to create, plan, and implement annual leadership recognition, opportunities, vehicles, and events while building knowledge of the University and processes.
- Discusses contract terms with vendors, draft thank you letters, and perform other responsibilities and assist with vital projects through use of expanded knowledge and experience in the area.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Education:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree.
Experience:
- Minimum two years of professional experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales or similar work.
- Background with data analysis and communicating complex topics to non-technical people.
- Managing cross-team projects.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
- Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including Phoenix (the University's Donor Relationship Management System).
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows computer environment, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

Working Conditions
- This position has a hybrid work schedule which includes weekly in office presence.
- Standard office environment.
- Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
- Work evenings and weekends as needed.
- This position is located in Hyde Park at 5235 South Harper Court.
