Position Summary
Works in conjunction with other team members to improve customer satisfaction and reduce cost of quality through waste reduction. Plan and implement continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead/participate in problem solving activities:
- Leads and participates in problem solving activities using various quality tools (8D, 5 Why, Pareto charts, etc.) to address deficiencies in production performance vs established goals. This includes customer and internal issues and supplier quality issues. Monitor and report on root cause resolution activities
- Lead/participate in continuous improvement activities:
- Leads and participates in continuous improvement activities using lean methodologies. These activities are proactive, rather than reactive, in nature as much as possible. Subjects of continuous improvement activities include Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, cost reduction through VA/VE, suggestions to eliminate waste in process, and quality improvement/ variation reduction initiatives.
- Manage the Quality Management System: Ensure the QMS meets certification & customer requirements. Monitor progress against strategic quality-related goals to drive continuous improvement. Represent the site for certification audits and customer audits. Lead corrective actions for audit findings.
- Provide significant direct everyday support and guidance to manufacturing personnel.
- Establish and communicate quality standards: Establishes quality standards and communicates them to involved personnel. This activity includes a wide range of activities from establishing visual standards to disposition of MRB’s.
- Communicate with Customers and Suppliers Quality issues: Communicates with both customers and suppliers on quality-related concerns, quality system improvement, and continuous improvement projects. Represents the company in this regard. Activities include negotiation of quality standards, establishing mutual action plans, and making presentations.
