Job Description
SUMMARY
The Accounting Operations Manager supports the Comptroller in maintaining the general ledger classification system and oversees daily operations activities. They ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections, implement checks to prevent errors and fraud, and regularly review general ledger and DDA accounts.
The ideal candidate for this position should possess analytical skills and extensive accounting experience. With exceptional communication and collaboration abilities, this manager ensures compliance, contributes to process improvements, and builds strong vendor and internal relationships.
The Accounting Operations Manager ensures the integrity of financial transactions, contributing to informed decision-making and stakeholder trust. By streamlining processes and improving financial operations, they enhance the company’s efficiency and profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist the Comptroller in the establishment and maintenance of a classification system for general ledger accounts.
- Oversee the daily operations activities, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Monitor the processing of invoices, payments, and collections to ensure they are handled promptly and correctly.
- Implement checks and balances to prevent errors and fraud, maintaining the integrity of financial transactions.
- Review daily and monthly reconciliations, including general ledger accounts and internal DDA accounts, to ensure all entries are accurate and up to date. Oversee the process for investigating and resolving discrepancies, collaborating across departments as appropriate.
- Create and update policies and procedures relevant to Accounting and reconciliation functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Ensure all processes comply with industry regulations and company standards.
- Work closely with departments such as Compliance, Risk, and Fraud to address billing and payment issues, continually streamlining processes and improving overall financial operations.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and resolving any disputes. Conduct regular reviews of vendor performance and payment terms to ensure optimal financial arrangements.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all general ledger and reconciliation activities are completed accurately and on schedule. Prepare necessary documentation and reports for audits and financial reviews.
- Assist in gathering departmental information for internal audits and regulatory exams.
- Monitor performance of accounting team and provide consistent, constructive feedback, including written performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and any necessary disciplinary actions in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
- Assist in designing financial or operational reports and communicating financial information to the Board of Directors and other members of management.
- Assume responsibility for additional tasks and projects as assigned.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, a related field, or a commensurate combination of education and experience required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Working knowledge of banking functions, accounting approaches, and accounting principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization.
- Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to analyze potential project outcomes with the adaptability to redirect attention as needed to meet targets and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers at all levels.
- A positive and proactive approach to work, demonstrating enthusiasm, adaptability, and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful or adverse conditions.
- Proficient computer literacy, including comfort with Microsoft systems and Office Suite.
- Intermediate typing skills to meet the needs of this position.
- Current driver’s license and reliable transportation with appropriate insurance coverage; additionally, the ability to drive occasionally in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
- The ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant industry certifications preferred.
