Job Summary
The Assistant Dean for Academic Administration and Dean of Students assists the Dean and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs with academic policy and administration at the College of Law, and, as Dean of Students, directs the Office of Student Services, providing leadership and exercising independent judgment in both roles.

Primary Position Function/Summary: The Assistant Dean for Academic Administration and Dean of Students assists the Dean and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs with academic policy and administration at the College of Law, and, as Dean of Students, directs the Office of Student Services, providing leadership and exercising independent judgment in both roles.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Student Counseling and Support: • provide course and academic-performance counseling • proactively promotes student mental health and supports students with mental health challenges • connect students to campus counseling, healthcare, and wellness resources • advises student organizations on leadership, activities, fundraising, and relevant College and University policies • communicates academic, programmatic, and other College information to student body.
  • Program Development and Administration
    • Assist colleagues in developing student-oriented programming on bar exam preparedness, inclusion and belonging, public service opportunities, and other topics.
    • Oversee accommodations for students with disabilities
    • assist students applying for outside grants, awards, and scholarships
    • oversee student orientation and commencement programs.
  • Academic Policy Implementation:
    • assist in developing the College's academic standards
    • communicate student feedback on curricular offerings and learning experiences to faculty and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
    • advise faculty on resolution of course-related student concerns
    • support the College's compliance with regulatory obligations
    • compile information for accreditation and other review of College's academic program
    • oversee generation of and sign all bar licensing forms for multiple jurisdictions of all students and alumni
    • serve as the College's Clery Act Liaison
    • represent the College on various University committees
    • facilitate student compliance with the College's Honor Code and academic standards
    • administer academic probation and academic risk policies
    • manage student discipline process.
  • Student Records • Supervise course registration, grade entry, maintenance, and degree conferral • supervise creation and distribution of course schedules utilizing curricular analysis and assist with Adjunct faculty hiring • oversee the maintenance of all student records in compliance with university policies and Federal laws.
  • Senior Leadership Team:
    • serves as a senior advisor to the Dean
    • contributes as needed to fulfilment of the College's institutional mission.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree. A minimum of three years of academic administration experience; outstanding organizational, communication, and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Juris Doctor.
Experience in legal education, the legal services industry, or other parts of the legal profession. Experience with Mobius View, Data Warehouse, Graduate College Slate, Canvas, PEAR, Qualtrics

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 6/16/2025. Salary is commensurate with experience in between the range from $155,000-$165,000.
