The University of Chicago's Department of Neurological is searching for full-time faculty members at any rank. This is an exciting opportunity to be a member the department as we welcome our Inaugural Chair, Dr. Mohamed Bydon, and develop a new Section of Neurovascular Surgery and that will contribute to our growing neurosurgical program. Appointees will provide clinical care in the inpatient and outpatient setting as an endovascular neurosurgeon, in addition to participating in open neurovascular surgery procedures and general neurosurgical care. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications. Appointees will join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners in UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, the University of Chicago and its affiliates. The University also has a robust Neuroscience Institute, which brings together more than 90 neuroscientists based in academic and clinical departments across the campus into a cohesive program. The Department of Neurological Surgery currently has 12 full-time attending neurosurgeons with plans to expand in the coming years. A world-renowned Neurovascular Surgery program with a tradition of excellence in patient care, basic, clinical, and translational sciences, combined with the strengths of one of the world's top academic institutions, provides the foundation for a fulfilling career as an academic physician.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent; 2) have or be eligible for permanent medical licensure in the State of Illinois and State of Indiana; 3) be Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Neurological Surgery; and 4) have additional fellowship training in endovascular neurosurgery with CAST accreditation or equivalent experience.
