Academic Hourly Research - Cell and Developmental Biology - Ma LabCollege of Liberal Arts & Sciences
Job Summary
Research including molecular, cellular, and physiological studies in the field of epigenetics and stem cells, using both wet lab and computational approaches. Also, lab maintenance: house-keeping activities (including prepare common reagents, autoclave utensils etc.).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Cell culture: assist in cell culture activities, with a focus on pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation\
- Molecular Biology: conduct laboratory experiments involving DNA and RNA techniques
- Transcriptomics and epigenomics: experimental design, data collection and analysis
- Mouse genetics: Support mouse-related research activities
- Present research in lab meetings. Participation in research seminars, research discussion and design, data analysis, reports and manuscript writing
- Lab supply procurement and inventory management: Order common supplies (cell culture medium, growth factors, small molecules, buffers, etc.) stocking consumables. Lab house-keeping activities (including preparing common reagents, autoclave utensils, etc.)
- Preparing or delegating standard laboratory reagents: common enzymes and kits
- Equipment management: maintain working conditions of equipment, training others how to properly use equipment, coordinating routine maintenance and repair appointments
- Lab administrative tasks: research safety compliance and animal research regulation compliance
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (molecular and cellular biology, genetics, physiology, etc.). Demonstration of professionalism, responsibility, communication skills, teamwork spirit, and respect for others. Enthusiasm for scientific research and a self-initiation to learn, participate, and contribute to research. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, effective communication and organization skills, and commitment to a safe work environment.
Successful Candidates will have:
Previous research experiences in cell culture, molecular biology, transcriptomics, and epigenomics.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline. The budgeted salary for this position is $17.00/hour. The employee hired into this position will be expected to work onsite on a full-time basis. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
