The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences brings biological, physical, and social scientists together to identify, teach, and publicize solutions for the sustainability of urban, managed, and natural ecosystems from the local to global scale.
Primary Position Function/Summary
Conduct research to understand how federally endangered Indiana bats are affected by timber management on state-owned conservation lands in northeast Missouri.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deploy acoustic devices in various locations out of six conservation sites.
- Conduct mistnetting surveys to capture bats.
- Use radio telemetry to locate bats and conduct exit counts at roosts.
- Manage crew and volunteer schedules, coordinate with funding agency and PI.
- Data entry and management.
• M.S. degree in natural resources or related field; experience conducting field surveys and leading a team. Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience studying the ecology of nocturnal animals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Technical knowledge regarding organization and management of information.
• Scientific knowledge regarding data collection in organismal systems.
• Skills in communication and problem solving.
• Ability to think critically and be adaptable.
• Time management and self-motivation abilities.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after June 22 nd , 2025. The budgeted salary range for the position is $53,000 to $55,000.
