Job Description

This position serves as a Data Processing Technician for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), performing journey level enterprise system and network operations control work and performing computer control functions. In this role, you will perform startups, shutdowns, system dumps (tasks, system, spool, etc.) and other functions for controlling a multi-processing computer environment. In addition, you will monitor, operate, and control systems and peripheral devices and environment to ensure appropriate availability and status resources.

 

Essential Functions
  • Under general supervision, serves as a Data Processing Technician (UMP) for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), performing journey level enterprise system and network operations control work and performing computer control functions.

  • Monitors, operates, and controls systems and peripheral devices and environment to ensure appropriate availability and status resources.

  • Monitors various systems and contacts on-call staff to resolve any unresolved issues, such as system and server failures.

  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
