Corporate Sanitation Documentation Specialist

Position Summary:

The Corporate Sanitation Documentation Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and auditing sanitation-related documentation across all food manufacturing facilities. This role ensures that sanitation programs meet regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, FSMA) and internal standards, supports food safety initiatives, and drives consistency in sanitation documentation and recordkeeping across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

Document Control & Standardization:
  • Develop and maintain corporate sanitation policies, SSOPs, cleaning schedules, master sanitation plans, and training materials.
  • Standardize sanitation documentation templates across all facilities.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory standards and company food safety programs (HACCP, FSMA, etc.).
Compliance & Auditing:
  • Support sanitation-related internal audits and third-party inspections (e.g., SQF, BRC).
  • Review facility sanitation documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Maintain central repository of sanitation records for corporate oversight.
Program Development:
  • Assist in the design and rollout of sanitation verification and validation programs.
  • Support development and documentation of allergen and environmental cleaning protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, Operations, EHS) to improve sanitation processes and documentation.
Training & Support:
  • Provide guidance and training on documentation best practices to plant sanitation and QA teams.
  • Help facilities prepare for audits by ensuring documentation readiness.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Monitor sanitation-related KPIs and trends in documentation issues.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, compliance, and food safety performance.
  • Stay updated on regulatory and industry trends in sanitation practices.

Required Competencies & Knowledge:

Experience with:
  • FDA/USDA regulations, GFSI standards (e.g., SQF, BRC), and FSMA.
  • SSOP development, sanitation verification/validation, and documentation systems. Must be accurate, detailed orientated while maintaining a high level of integrity and accountability
  • CIP systems, chemical safety, and sanitation equipment preferred
  • Multi-plant food manufacturing environments.

Skill in:
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to:
  • Ability to travel to manufacturing facilities as needed (10-25%)
Proficiency in: MS Office; experience with document control software (e.g., MasterControl, Intelex, or SharePoint) preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in sanitation, food safety, or quality documentation in the food industry.
  • HACCP Certification or PCQI certification preferred

The pay range for this full-time, salaried position is $66,813 - $100,219/year. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive based on company and individual performance. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
