Jenner & Block is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative Legal Recruiting Coordinator to join our team in Chicago. The Legal Recruiting Coordinator will be a key member of the Chicago and firmwide recruiting team, supporting law student, post-clerk, and lateral hiring. This role will also assist in the planning and execution of the summer associate program, recruiting events, and other initiatives that contribute to building a strong talent pipeline. The Legal Recruiting Coordinator will report to the Chicago Legal Recruiting Manager and work closely with attorneys, candidates, and firm leadership.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage the interview process – Coordinate candidate applications, schedule interviews, and draft/facilitate candidate communications. Timely updating of viRecruit database is essential.
- Support law student hiring efforts – Assist with law school outreach, and relationships with career services offices.
- Coordinate recruiting events – Assist in organizing networking receptions, outreach initiatives, and panel discussions with firm attorneys on campuses, a variety of event sites and in the office.
- Coordinate the summer associate program - coordinate office-specific and firmwide orientation programming, monitor program logistics, assist with gathering information for mid-summer and end of summer evaluations. Assist with planning office specific daytime meetings and evening social events for 10-week program. Attend and manage each of the smaller evening summer program events
- Facilitate onboarding – Ensure a smooth transition for new hires, including entry-level associates, later associates, and summer associates.
- Maintain recruiting data and reporting – Update the applicant tracking system and generate reports as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with candidates, attorneys, and staff.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of legal recruiting/talent management experience in a law firm or other professional services setting is required.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and experience with applicant tracking systems (such as viDesktop) preferred.
- Flexibility to adjust hours as needed to support recruiting events and business needs.
