Senior Buyer
OTTO’s opportunity:
Our Senior Buyer is responsible for all purchasing of material, equipment, and supplies.
Specifically, the Senior Buyer will:
- Be a member of major project teams
- Obtain quotations, prepare and place purchase orders in a group or groups of commodities, material, supplies and equipment
- Customer liaison for Defective Material Reporting
- Conduct Vendor Audits and provide constructive feedback
- Responsible for managing vendor base
- Determine proper sources of supply for most economical purchases
- Locate new sources of supplies as necessary
- Support Engineering in the development of new products and/or new vendors
- Expedite deliveries as necessary to meet production schedules
- Maintain or improve purchase costs relative to the established standards
- Recommend policies and procedures for purchasing functions
- Maintain vendor information in the database
- Familiar with MRP Purchasing
- Control of inventory levels for assigned commodities
- Negotiate major contracts
- Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) as needed – including developing and processing Discrepant Material Reports (DMRs) and assisting in part analysis
- Assist with other related duties as required or assigned
