Job Description

Our client, a manufacturer of machine parts located in Bridgeview, seeks an experienced Quality Engineer. This position is of key importance and visibility within the company that requires a focus on continuous improvement and working cross-functionally with Engineering, Production Operations and Customer service. The Quality Engineer works closely with customers to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations within the structure of the ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System. This is a 1st shift (7:00AM - 5:00PM) opportunity. This position includes medical, dental, and retirement benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee and prepare First-Article/PPAP submission packages for customer review and approval.
  • Conduct statistical studies, including MSA (Gage R&R) and process capability studies, as required.
  • Perform first piece approval (ISIR) and gage setup to meet the requirements of production, as required.
  • (Metrology) Oversee gage calibration program using GageTrac software and outsourcing of calibration activities.
  • Oversee the internal audit process and conduct internal audits on a regular basis in conformance with ISO 9001:2015.
  • Experience implementing preventive methodology such as: FMEAs, Control Plans, non-conformances (NCR’s), and corrective/preventive actions (CARs). Etc…
  • Actively participate in the NPI (New Part Introduction), ECN (Engineering Change Notice), and IPC (Internal Process Change) processes within the Quality Management System.
  REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Quality Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not necessary).
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of successful experience in Quality and a metals manufacturing production environment.
  • Experience with low volume, high production mix environment
  • Experience with machining processes – CNC Lathes and Mills
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing methodologies to drive down waste an improve overall processes
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T
  • Hexagon CMM (PCDMIS) programming and execution (preferred)
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimum supervision across the full range of daily quality activities. Ability to adapt and respond to frequent changes in priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
