Responsibilities
 POSITION SUMMARY: The Student Life & Mission Integration Student Assistant for Marketing and Social Media (SLAM) is to assist the departments of Student Life, Student Services/Student Affairs and Ministry in the development and revision of advertisements and upkeep of associated social media for marketing and information outreach. As the marketing assistant, you will also be ensuring the proper operation of the Student Services front desk, serving the Student Life and Student Services/Student Affairs departments in addition to the Motherhouse residence hall community. Therefore, the student worker should be comfortable working within a culturally diverse population of both students and faculty, should have some prior knowledge of a residence education atmosphere, and should possess the proven ability to provide a level of high quality customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional work environment. In addition, the student worker is responsible for maintaining an above satisfactory level of security within the residence halls and responding quickly and effectively in emergency situations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, design, and create assigned advertisements for campus and/or community outreach (Critical Thinking, Technology)
Review, edit, and/or finalize department advertisements and marketing projects (Critical Thinking, Technology)
Help maintain department social media through active and intentional publications/announcements ( Communication, Technology)
Update documents and facilitate the posting of publicity items as directed (Communication, Technology)
Work closely with Student Life and its associated clubs to ensure dates and times are accurate and that projects are met by deadlines (Technology, Communication, Critical Thinking)


OTHER DESK DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Answering a phone; transferring calls and being responsible/reactive to other forms of electronic communication. (Technology, Communication, Critical Thinking)
Customer Service: assist with the greeting of visitors and handling inquiries from department staff, faculty, residents, students, and the public. (Communication, Critical Thinking, Teamwork)
Assist in maintaining a secure living environment through proper policy enforcement. (Leadership)
Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Student Life staff. (Critical Thinking)
Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement (Professionalism)
Qualifications
 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma is required.
Enrolled at least part-time at the University of St. Francis.
Individual must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Demonstrate a commitment to quality customer service, helping others, upholding a positive attitude, developing strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and maintaining a high level of maturity and responsibility.
Experience in the development of advertisement (e.g. flyers and digital media).
High level of familiarity with social media (e.g. Facebook and Twitter).
Above satisfactory level computer skills with Microsoft Office (Publisher, Word, and Excel) and/or ability to integrate personal Macintosh software/files.
Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the University.
Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.



WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer.
