The primary teaching assignments are in the MLA curriculum including Lecture, Lab, and Externship settings. This program is accredited by CAAHEP and MAERB. The Adjunct Instructor of Medical Assistant should have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, diversity, and holistic student success.
This position will primarily provide instructional support to students in the Lab setting. Labs are held for both cohorts on Wednesday afternoon/evening between the hours of 2:00pm-9:30pm. There is a 30-45 minute break between Lab sessions.
Duties and expectations of this position include, but are not limited to:
Collaborate with Dean, Assistant Dean (if applicable), and program faculty in providing leadership for the curriculum and program development, student recruitment and retention, and ensure that students successfully meet the course objectives and outcomes.
Prepare course syllabi and design lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to address different learning styles. Incorporate learning-centered principles and concepts and motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational experience.
Work collaboratively with professional colleagues to serve the needs of students and the community.
Model professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Teaching assignments may include days, evenings and/or weekends at campuses throughout the district - primarily at Aurora Fox Valley. Instructional modalities will include in-person learning environments only.
Minimum Qualifications
CMA certification (AAMA) OR Registered Nurse (RN) with an active Illinois license.
Associates degree in Medical Assistant or related field.
4000 hours of medical assisting and/or nursing experience (2 years) with direct patient contact experience.
Has documented education in instructional methodology. Instructional methodology education may be demonstrated by documentation of completed workshops, in-service sessions, seminars, or completed college courses on topics including, but not limited to, learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology, or assessment techniques. If you do not have documented instructional methodology, the right candidate can acquire this during your first year through Waubonsee.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience in a clinical health profession program at the vocational/technical, or community college level.
An interdisciplinary focus integrating innovative learning strategies and demonstrated ability to enhance the success of diverse student populations.
Experience incorporating technology and multimedia applications into the teaching and learning process and interest in all forms of alternative learning.
Experience teaching traditionally underserved populations.
Experience in teaching in multiple instructional modalities.
Experience in utilizing Learning Management Systems.
