DescriptionThe University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hematology/Oncology, is searching for full-time faculty members at any rank. Appointees will focus on the care of children, adolescents, and young adults undergoing stem cell transplant with an interest in gene therapy, cellular therapy, and leading curative options for patients with non-malignant and immune disorders at both Comer Children's Hospital and the section's off-site clinical locations. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. We anticipate that one of the appointees from this search will also serve in the role of Medical Director for Pediatric Stem Cell and Cellular Therapy Program Service Line of the Chicagoland Children's Health Alliance (CCHA) and will partner with the Director of the Pediatric Stem Cell and Cellular Therapy Program to operate a highly efficient program. In their role as Medical Director, the appropriate appointee will provide direction, leadership, and day-to-day management of clinical activities for all transplant program staff, championing organizational and departmental operational initiatives in unit while providing guidance and leadership to achieve clinical performance guidelines. Development of translational or clinical protocols in transplantation for either malignant or benign hematological diseases is expected.
The Section of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplantation at the University of Chicago has recently formed a partnership with the Advocate Children's Hospital's Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. The Children's Health Alliance (CCHA) reflects a collaboration among the University of Chicago Chicagoland Medicine Comer Children's Hospital, Advocate Children's Hospital and Pediatrics at NorthShore University Health System. There has been a significant expansion of the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program due to this recent partnership. The three organizations are committed to seamless, multidisciplinary teams who are passionate about providing the best possible care for children and their families.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be BC/BE in pediatric hematology/oncology, and 4) have completed a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship.
Applicants with expertise in immunotherapy, stem cell therapeutics, or clinical trial design are encouraged to apply. However, we welcome applications from individuals with other transplantation experience with appropriate clinical experience.
In addition, we especially welcome applicants with at least 3 years of experience in the management of patients undergoing stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies.
