Job Description
The Learning & Development Specialist contributes greatly to the company’s internal learning, professional development, and overall training initiatives. In addition to overseeing key administrative work within the company’s learning management system and ensuring training guides are updated and effective, this specialist assists in the creation and facilitation of learning and development programs for team members at all levels of the organization.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should have knowledge of retail banking, strong communication and presentation skills, and a positive, optimistic approach to work. The Learning & Development Specialist must be able to collaborate across departments and utilize a strong attention to detail to continually audit and improve training programs.
The Learning & Development Specialist supports the day-to-day functions of learning and development initiatives, serving as an ambassador to team members at all levels of their careers, and contributing to ongoing research, implementation, and special projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist in the development and delivery of internal training programs for banking procedures and policies.
- Actively participate in the ongoing expansion of Learning & Development initiatives, contributing to planning, implementation, and ongoing review of all programs.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning and growth, fostering an environment where education and innovation thrive.
- Maintain the Banterra University and other resource catalogues as assigned.
- Develop knowledge of Banterra University and serve as a subject matter expert on the system.
- Assist with regular audits of internal learning and development programs to ensure relevance and effectiveness, making recommendations for improvement to the Director of Learning & Development as appropriate.
- Partner with the Learning & Development Coordinator to maintain updated curriculum and training records.
- Assist with and facilitate assigned trainings on applicable banking procedures and policies for current and new team members.
- Assist with and facilitate various internal development programs.
- Regularly participate in on-site trainings for special projects, new products, and equipment/software implementations.
- Stay informed of compliance requirements, processes, and procedures, collaborating regularly with the Compliance team to ensure consistency and audit training content.
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant banking systems and programs.
- Utilize external resources to build knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional methodologies, and various e-learning platforms.
- Assume responsibility for special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration, a related field, or a commensurate combination of education and experience required.
- Two or more years of experience in retail banking required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and effectively communicate learning and development strategies.
- Strong public-speaking skills and the ability to organize and present ideas to stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to analyze potential project outcomes with the adaptability to redirect attention as needed to meet targets and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers at all levels.
- A positive and proactive approach to work, demonstrating enthusiasm, adaptability, and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful or adverse conditions.
- Proficient computer literacy, including comfort with Microsoft systems and Office Suite.
- Intermediate typing skills to meet the needs of this position.
- Current driver’s license and reliable transportation with appropriate insurance coverage; additionally, the ability to drive occasionally in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
- The ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Learning, or a related field preferred.
