Job Description
Development of Institutional and Professional Expertise- Continuously research and update knowledge of NIU’s academic programs, student services, student activities, and outcomes information in order to provide accurate information and communicate NIU distinctions.
- Regularly perform competitor analysis to complement market research, in order to assist the Office of Admissions in developing and execute recruitment and yield strategies and tactics for diverse populations.
- Stay current on post-secondary and secondary trends related to student recruitment and yield best-practices.
- Maintain strong customer service skills with attentiveness and sensitivity to records and information.
- Review applications by evaluating academic transcripts, essays, and other materials, and when appropriate, conduct interviews to determine applicant availability.
Recruitment Communication and Outreach
- Meet individually with prospective students and is responsible for on-campus presentations, information sessions, and visitor interviews.
- Execute individual call campaign during the busiest times of the recruitment cycle.
- Execute dynamic and targeted communications campaigns and outreach to diverse groups of prospective students, families, secondary school and community college staff, and constituencies across campus.
- Proactively seek and contribute to additional recruitment and yield activities.
- Responsible for undergraduate recruitment and yield, travel in an assigned territory, and territory management to met enrollment targets.
- Increase the quality of university relationships with key schools and constituents in assigned market(s).
- Conduct off-campus presentations and information sessions, sharing details on the university’s academic programs and student life services.
- Responsible for secondary school, community college visitations and territory management including market research, college day/night programs, college fairs, and individual school visits. Extensive automobile travel and overnight travel required.
- Some weekend assignments required.
- Develop and contribute to territory management and additional program reports that contain fundamental and insightful information, which can be used to evaluate, assess, and refine recruitment and yield activities for diverse populations.
- Anticipate, report, and form strategies to address recruitment and yield challenges.
