Position Title: Training & Development Specialist

Location: St. Charles, MO

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Training and Development Specialist to support initiatives that enhance talent, support employee growth, and improve retention across all departments. This role provides support in the designing and delivery of training programs that align with Craftsmen Industries' Mission, Vision, and Values, ensuring consistent, high-quality learning experiences for both production and administrative teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Training Development Specialist must demonstrate the ability to support the development and delivery of comprehensive onboarding programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and engaging training materials in collaboration with the Marketing teams. Must be willing to travel occasionally to support multi-site rollouts and standardization efforts.

Organization-Wide Training & Development:

  • Collaborate with department leaders across production, quality, maintenance, logistics, and administration to assess training needs and deliver effective programs.
  • Support the implementation of training strategies that promote safety, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Track training progress, gather feedback, and adjust programs to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Partner with department managers to assess individual and team training needs and develop customized learning plans to support skill development and operational excellence.
  • Deliver training using various formats such as classroom instruction, hands-on workshops, group discussions, and video modules.

Production-Focused Training:

  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering hands-on, skills-based training in areas such as Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Paint, etc.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of engaging training on production methods, safety procedures, equipment usage, and quality standards using various formats.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify skill gaps and design targeted interventions.
  • Monitor training effectiveness through assessments, performance reviews, and on-the-floor observation.
  • Support the development of cross-functional workshops to promote workforce flexibility and versatility.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Technical Certification in Training and Development, Education, or similar.
  • 3-5 years' experience in training, workforce development, or employee education, preferably in manufacturing or custom assembly environments.
  • Must demonstrate a consistent and stable work history, along with strong verbal and written communication, facilitation, and instructional design skills.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-departmental projects and build strong working relationships at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with ERP and/or Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Comfortable working in both office and production environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and compliance requirements relevant to manufacturing and specialty fabrication.
  • OSHA or other safety certifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to occasionally lift materials and work in warehouse and shop settings.
  • Role is split between production floor and office/training space.
  • Must have the ability to hear and respond to auditory signals, distinguish tones and pitches in equipment, and use hearing protection during specific tasks.
  • Sitting, standing, and walking in office, warehouse and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to bend, lift, and position self to move about the office, as needed.
  • Required use of fingers and hands to operate a computer.
  • Vision abilities required by this position includes close and/or color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
