Adjuncts are hired on a course basis each term.
Salary Range for Non-Instructional Adjuncts in this academic area is $3,500.00 - $5,000.00 per course/assignment.
The Division of Education and Leadership in the College of Education and Human Development at Governors State University is seeking a dedicated Technical Support Specialist to serve as a Non-Instructional Adjunct Faculty Member in the Interdisciplinary Leadership (INLD) Program. This specialized position focuses exclusively on providing comprehensive dissertation development support to doctoral students throughout their research journey.Essential Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
Dissertation Support Services
- Guide doctoral students through the complete dissertation proposal development process
- Regularly communicate deadlines and serve as the liaison for document approval processes, hearing and defense meetings logistics, recordings, and announcements, and coordinate hooding/commencement participation and program information
- Assist students and faculty with the committee chairperson selection process
- Provide technical expertise and support throughout the IRB (Institutional Review Board) application process
- Assist students with formatting, organization, and submission of final dissertation documents
- Ensure compliance with university dissertation standards and requirements
Resource Development and Management
- Develop and maintain standardized templates and resources for dissertation components
- Create comprehensive guides and documentation for dissertation processes
- Update and refine support materials based on evolving academic standards
- Maintain current knowledge of dissertation formatting requirements and submission procedures
Educational Programming
- Conduct regular workshops on research methodology and academic writing
- Facilitate group sessions on dissertation development best practices
- Provide individual consultations and technical guidance to doctoral students
- Coordinate with faculty to ensure alignment with program objectives
Administrative and Technical Support
- Collaborate with INLD Program Coordinator on program improvement initiatives
- Maintain detailed records of student interactions and progress
- Participate in program meetings and planning sessions as required
- Stay current with institutional policies and procedures related to doctoral education
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in doctoral education, dissertation supervision, or academic support services
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in academic writing and research methodology
- Experience with IRB processes and regulatory compliance
- Advanced knowledge of dissertation formatting standards (APA 7th Ed.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and academic software platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as dissertation committee member or supervisor
- Background in interdisciplinary research methodologies
- Experience developing educational resources and conducting workshops
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and virtual support delivery
- Knowledge of statistical software and data analysis tools
