Position Summary
The Nursing Clinical/SIM/Lab (CLS) Coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing the Leach College of Nursing's clinical placement, simulation, and laboratory activities. The CLS Coordinator negotiates and arranges clinical placements of undergrad and grad nursing students. The CLS Coordinator manages the daily operations of the nursing lab, schedules learning activities in skills and assessment labs, prepares supplies and equipment for demonstrations and lab classes, manages lab inventory and equipment, and supervises student lab workers. The CLS Coordinator operates, programs, and troubleshoots high-fidelity simulators, associated software, and audio-visual equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* The Nursing Clinical/SIM/Lab (CLS) Coordinator is the clinical liaison between the University of St. Francis, Cecily & John Leach College of Nursing (LCON) and health care agencies.
* The CLS coordinator is responsible for negotiating and arranging clinical sites that meet the educational requirements for nursing students.
* The CLS coordinator acts as a liaison to interpret and match the needs of students and instructors to agencies with appropriate learning experiences.
* Collaborates with clinical course instructors, program directors, associate/assistant deans, and dean to identify clinical placement needs for undergrad and grad students.
* Identifies, remits, and establishes collaborative relationships with clinical/practicum sites.
* Maintains currency with and establishes new clinical site affiliation agreements in collaboration with the LCON Associate Deans.
* Submits timely requests to clinical agencies for student clinical site placements.
* Provides clinical agencies with course-related information and expected clinical student learning outcomes/preceptor expectations.
* Submits timely clinical requests for clinical role transition (CRT) student placements while working collaboratively with the CRT coordinator and obtains preceptors' contact information to provide to the CRT coordinator.
* In collaboration with clinical course lead instructors, assigns students and faculty to respective clinical groups and input schedules using the online system, eMedley
* Update and maintain the online scheduling and evaluation system, eMedley. Input information into the system as needed.
* Conducts clinical site visits every year and as needed.
* Collaborates with clinical faculty and students for clinical site evaluation.
* Notifies lead clinical course instructor and adjunct faculty of the clinical site's faculty and student orientation dates, times, location, and other specific agency-related requirements.
* Attends clinical site orientations, including clinical role transition (CRT) orientations, as needed.
* Attends clinical site meetings related to clinical placements, etc.
* Monitors, reports, and submits appropriate forms to clinical agencies regarding students' background checks, CPR certification, drug screening, health, and immunization requirements for pre-licensure, RN-BSN, and graduate students.
* Keeps current regarding clinical agencies' student/placement requirements.
* Create an environment in the labs that facilitates student learning.
* Collaborate with undergraduate/graduate faculty and the SIM director to schedule lab time, skills, and health assessment teaching days using the current scheduling system.
* Collaborate with undergraduate faculty to prepare for scheduled teaching, demonstration, and competency testing days.
