Job Description
Sr. Dimensional Engineers with Rivian Automotive, LLC in Normal, IL. Responsible to identify quality topics for resolution, determine root cause of the issue, collaborate with manufacturing, process, mechanical engineering, and designing teams to define are solution. Delegate and drive the solution through the process to series implementation and validate the effectiveness of the measure on the vehicles. Track and monitor multiple projects and issues, support robust root cause determination and verify effectiveness, identify needs for additional resources, and report to leadership on progress. Drive the problem-solving process, utilize tools to develop immediate countermeasures(containments) and permanent (long-term) solutions to dimensional quality issues. Improve fit and finish of the vehicle and support the development methods to analyze, improve product and process quality. Analyze data to define trends, capability, functional improvements and work with relevant teams and departments to understand the needs for problem-solving. Conduct analyses of issues and validations of solutions. Formulate a strategic plan to develop systems and metrics to increase business productivity. Identify product and process improvements, and quality issues including simplification, cost-down, and durability improvements.
RQMTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field and 2 years of experience in any occupation involving dimensional engineering. Experience must include working with automotive production processes; dimensional analysis packages; ability to read and understand CMM and scan reports; CATIA and CAD software for design and PLM functions; performing GD&T and tolerance analysis; manufacturing and assembly with automotive stamping, Body in White assemblies/subassemblies, drivetrain castings/gears, and Battery modules; understanding dimensional variations as factor on vehicle form fit and function; and statistical process control and control charts. Salary Range: $100,000-$131,000/yr.
