This role will operate onsite 5 days week, Monday – Friday. The 2nd shift hours are 2pm – 10pm.
Role Summary
As the Environmental Safety and Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors at Fellowes U.S. facilities. The Safety and Security Officer will proactively focus on hazard identification, safety observations, and safety and security inspections. Additionally, the position will utilize safety and security systems and respond to, investigate, and document any incidents that occur on company property, while protecting employees, company property, and assets.
In This Role, You Will
- Complete safety inspections, safe work observations, and safety audits to identify safe and unsafe workplace conditions and behaviors.
- Incident response for injuries, accidents, property damage, security incidents, weather events, and facility evacuations.
- Complete incident reports for safety and security events.
- Navigate and monitor safety and security systems to include fire alarm & fire suppression, access control program, visitor management software, security alarm system, ESS database/safety software, and CCTV systems.
- Conduct internal and external tours of the facility to ensure physical security.
- Provide excellent customer service and facility access for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Process deliveries, interoffice mail, BOL's, property passes, and safety and security supply inventories.
- Serve as an on-site point of contact for fire department, police department, and safety/security vendors when necessary.
- Collaborate with other members of the Environmental, Safety, and Security Department, along with other areas of the business to help drive continuous improvement and awareness in the areas of safety and security.
- Maintain security records, equipment reports, inspections, key control records, and visitor logs.
- Conduct drug & alcohol screens.
- Provide additional support for special events and meetings.
- Escalate safety and security incidents to the Senior Environmental, Safety, and Security Specialist, as needed.
What You Bring to the Team
- At least 3 years experience in a security or safety role preferably in a corporate/warehouse/manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with safety and security systems and equipment.
- Basic understanding of security and safety concepts, methodologies, and requirements.
- High school diploma is required. A degree in Criminal/Social Justice or Occupational Health and Safety preferred.
- Ability to safety operate a company van and powered industrial equipment.
- Understand and follow Security Department Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Response Plans.
- Maintain certification in first aid, CPR, and AED's.
- Proficient in Windows based programs and applications.
- Ability to adapt to a quickly changing and sometimes fast-paced environment.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information, while demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
- Lead and influence without direct authority.
- Flexibility to work overtime occasionally, as needed.
