Lead Pressman – 2nd Shift

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL area
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Pay Range: $29–$38 per hour (based on experience)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Pressman to oversee 2nd shift press operations. This role is responsible for running large offset presses, leading press crews, ensuring print quality, and maintaining efficient, safe production workflows.

Key Responsibilities

•Review job tickets and specifications prior to production

•Set up presses including plates, inks, and stock

•Run press jobs and monitor quality (color accuracy, registration, defects)

•Complete production runs according to schedule and specifications

•Lead and direct press crew activities

•Assign tasks and coach operators on best practices and techniques

•Promote a safe, efficient, and team-oriented work environment

•Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance

•Conduct minor repairs and adjustments

•Quickly diagnose and resolve press malfunctions or downtime issues

•Inspect printed materials throughout production

•Verify color accuracy and consistency

•Use test equipment to ensure compliance with job specifications

•Coordinate with supervisors and other departments

•Manage workflow and production priorities

•Document production performance and issues

•Track supplies and assist with inventory management

Required Skills & Experience

•Hands-on experience with large offset printing presses

•Recent experience operating Komori, Heidelberg, or Mitsubishi presses

•Strong understanding of printing processes, including:

◦ Color theory

◦ Plate mounting

◦ Ink management

•Knowledge of UV and/or conventional ink printing

•Ability to read job specifications, troubleshoot issues, and perform basic math for press adjustments
