Job Description
Bystronic Inc. has an opening for an Advanced Solutions Second Level Manager in Hoffman Estates, IL. 40 hours/week. Up to 20% short-term domestic and international travel to most continental states to review equipment condition, diagnose faults, remedy the machine condition, and train the local-level support teams while onsite.
DUTIES:
Installation & Commissioning: Install and commission Bystronic machines at customer locations, ensuring they are ready according to Bystronic Standards; programming creation/editing; assembling electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic installations; conducting final handovers; and requires a detailed understanding of system specifications and ability to integrate systems.
System Assembly, Maintenance, & Repairs: Assemble and maintain Bystronic machines by installing, modifying, and repairing electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems at customer sites; performing advanced repairs, conducting measurements, and making adjustments to ensure optimal machine performance; and role demand in-depth technical knowledge of mechanical systems and precision in handling complex maintenance tasks. System Diagnosis & Adjustments: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and including customization of software functionality, CNC/PLC system parameters ensuring hat machines operate efficiently; perform software updates and downgrades on CNC/PLC systems, testing for successful implementation, and resolving any issues; and requires strong command of CNC/PLC software and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
Technical Troubleshooting & Customer Support: Provide advanced technical troubleshooting for customers, including diagnosing and analyzing complex cases; resolving customer issues on-site, offering technical advice, and supporting customers with operational guidance; and ability to clearly communicate technical concepts is essential for ensuring customer satisfaction and machine functionality.
Documentation & Reporting: Complete and maintain detailed service reports, support request forms, and installation documentation in Bystronic’s CRM system; ensure all reports adhere to company and ISO, accurately reflecting service activities, customer feedback, and technical interventions; and requires meticulous attention-to-detail and commitment to maintaining comprehensive records.
Quality Improvement Initiatives: Participate in and initiate quality improvement initiatives in line with ISO guidelines; identifying areas for enhancement in machine performance and collaborating with teams to implement these improvements; and requires proactive approach to quality management and deep understanding of Bystronic’s operation standards.
Cross-functional & Global Collaboration: Coordinate with competence centers and collaborate with local and global Bystronic service organizations to manage high-priority technical tasks; managing communication for technical issues, facilitating interventions, and working with colleagues in similar roles across different regions; and role demands excellent coordination skills and to work effectively in a global team environment.
Support for Sales & Service Offers: Assist in consultation of sales and service offers, providing technical expertise to support installation and operation of machines; and role requires strong technical acumen to demonstrate machine capabilities and to support the sales team in addressing queries and requirements.
Employee Training & Mentorship: Train and mentor Bystronic employees and customers on machine safety, maintenance, and operational best practices; developing training materials, conducting training sessions, and providing support to ensure team members and customers are proficient in using Bystronic equipment; and role requires strong leadership and communication skills.
World Class Services Projects Participation: Take active role in rollout of Bystronic’s World Class Services Projects, contributing to the enhancement and development of Bystronic products; identifying opportunities for product improvements, providing feedback, and support implementation of new solutions; and demands commitment to driving excellence in service delivery.
MIN. REQS.: High school diploma or foreign equivalent and 9 years of experience in job offered or related roles, such as Technical Manager, Service Automation Expert, Technical Engineer.
ALT. REQS.: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering. 7 years of experience in job offered or related roles, such as Technical Manager, Service Automation Expert, Technical Engineer.
SPECIAL REQS.: 7 years of experience in the steel fabrication industry. 7 years of experience in warehouse automation systems. 7 years of experience in a manufacturing organization and/or field service. 5 years of experience in Microsoft Office. 7 years of working knowledge of proprietary and SQL software programming and platforms. 7 years of in-depth understanding of industrial customer solutions, technology, and services. 3 years of experience in technical writing and interpretation of technical documentation, including the ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings. 5 years of experience in task and project management, with basic PC skills including customer relationship management software, Excel, and PowerPoint. 5 years of experience in solution system installation, pre-site certification or qualification, and life cycle support. 7 years of experience in CNC programming, software diagnostic, coding, and customization. 7 years of experience utilizing CNC/PLC systems, troubleshooting, and system integration for an end2end support manufacturing processes.
PAY TRANSPARENCY: $183,331 to $190,000.00/year.
