What You Will Do
- Set up and maintain Banner deductions for employee benefits for faculty and staff, including calculating and entering deduction overrides and verifying changes when contracts or FTE% change.
- Perform the Benefits payroll process for faculty and staff.
- Process all benefit changes, terminations, and retirements for assigned employees across all systems.
Counsel, assist, and advise faculty and staff on the Morneau Shepell system and all benefit options, including SURS retirement plans, Supplemental Retirement Plan (403b), and State Deferred Compensation plan. - Research and process daily change files, communicate with employees as needed, and collect or refund withholdings to correct payroll errors.
- Coordinate all Benefits-related training initiatives, events, and presentations, including New Hire Orientation, Retiree Reception, and Service Awards Reception.
- Serve as a backup to Benefits staff during times of high volume or absences

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- Any one or combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the categories below:
- college course work in human resource management, business administration, social sciences, or a closely related field:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
- work experience performing clerical or paraprofessional duties related to benefits and/or insurance benefits in benefits, insurance, retirement, healthcare, or human resources.
- college course work in human resource management, business administration, social sciences, or a closely related field:
- Eighteen (18) months of work experience comparable to that performed at the Benefits Representative level of this series.
