Overview
Designs mechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.
Responsibilities
- Designs mechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.
- Participates in drafting detailed design specifications and related documents.
- Designs and conducts research programs by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials to evaluate mechanical systems and products.
- Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and properties.
- Develops mechanical products by studying customer requirements and researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
- Designs and modifies equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
- Collaborates with senior engineers to develop company engineering standards and processes.
- Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and system capabilities, and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
- Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing trends and data.
- Provides subject matter expertise for the team on engineering questions and requests.
Qualifications
Must have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent and two years of experience in: 1) equipment design, piping systems, and new product development within the chemical and manufacturing sectors; 2) SolidWorks, DraftSight, AutoCAD, UG NX, and CATIA, with a foundation in GD&T, DFM/DFA, and regulatory standards (ASME, ASTM); 3) leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex mechanical systems while streamlining operations through cost-effective design solutions; 4) driving projects from concept to commission; 5) integrating CAD with ERP systems for budget planning and BOM management, including item code creation, library maintenance, and financial tracking. Salary: $74,000 – 80,000/year. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, life insurance, PTO, disability, incentive pay, and 401k.
