DESIGN AND BUILD ADVANCED AUTOMATION AT COILCRAFT

Position: Mechanical Automation Engineer / Machine Designer Location: Cary, Illinois

Coilcraft, Inc. is a privately held, global manufacturing organization with a 75+ year legacy of engineering excellence in magnetic components. Headquartered in Cary, Illinois, we design and produce high-performance RF chip inductors, power magnetics, and filters used in advanced technologies worldwide. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Automation Engineer / Machine Designer to join our machine design team and lead the development of custom automation solutions that support our manufacturing operations.

About the Role and Your Impact
  • Design automation systems for a wide variety of products and assemblies using mechanical systems, electronic controls, pneumatic actuators, and operator interfaces
  • Develop new automation concepts and specifications and improve existing designs using cross-functional input
  • Lead design efforts for prototypes and production-ready drawings
  • Evaluate products, parts, and processes for cost efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Establish and maintain project schedules to ensure on-time completion
  • Review initial automation builds for design compliance and implement improvements
  • Support automation changes and corrections throughout the product lifecycle
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineers, departments, and customers
Who We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • At least 5 years of recent mechanical design experience in manufacturing and automation environments
  • Demonstrated experience with both component-level design and complete machine/system design
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years of SolidWorks experience
  • Experience designing custom automation or special-purpose machinery
  • Familiarity with pneumatic systems, motion components, and automation hardware
