Job Description
About Rivian
Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.
As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
Role Summary
At Rivian, we are tasked with providing a world-class environment for our employees and visitors. As the Specialist, Facilities Operations, Services, you will serve as the tactical lead for our site-wide facility programs, with a heavy emphasis on On-Site Waste Logistics and Material Flow.
You will act as the "boots-on-the-ground" auditor and the secondary Point of Contact (POC) for our 3rd-party vendors. Your mission is to ensure that our service partners execute their Statement of Work (SOW) to the letter, maintaining consistent data integrity, financial accuracy, and a constant state of audit-readiness across the facility.
Responsibilities
Vendor Governance: Act as the daily tactical lead for the On-Site Waste vendor and other 3rd-party facility contracts. Audit labor levels, equipment uptime, and adherence to internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Data & Financial Audit: Ensure vendors are accurately capturing all required data points at the source. Cross-reference vendor logs against hauler weights to protect commodity revenue and validate all facility service invoices.
Maintain Site Standards: Conduct regular inspections of waste areas and vendor work zones. Hold cross functional partners accountable for 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) standards, spillage control, and dock cleanliness to ensure the site is always "tour-ready."
Process Optimization: Identify gaps in current processes and transition reactive vendor requests into scheduled, predictable routes. Lead training initiatives and use "Gemba" walks (on-site observations) to identify and resolve waste contamination.
Operational Liaison: Serve as the first line of defense for daily operational hurdles, escalating only high-level decisions and performance summaries to the Project Manager.
Safety Oversight: Monitor vendor safety compliance in the field, ensuring 100% adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certifications.
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years in Facilities Operations, Industrial Logistics, or Vendor Management, preferably in a high-volume, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Audit Mindset: Proven ability to verify 3rd-party data, identify "wasteful spend," and hold partners accountable to strict contract terms.
Software Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive) for data reconciliation and team collaboration.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial waste systems (compactors/balers) and internal "hub-and-spoke" collection models.
Lean & Sustainability Awareness: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen/5S), Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, and Zero-Waste-to-Landfill initiatives.
Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex field data into clear, concisensummaries for Facilities Leadership.
