2nd Pressman                 -   North Chicago, IL area

Direct hire opportunity  -    2nd shift hours

Pay Range: $25-30 per hour

Core Responsibilities

Required Qualifications & Skills

•Experience: Generally requires 2+ years of experience in a pressroom, often as a 3rd pressman or apprentice.

•Technical Skills: Mechanical aptitude, knowledge of printing processes (offset, flexographic), and the ability to read job specifications.

•Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50–75 pounds, stand for long periods (12-hour shifts), and work in, sometimes, hot or noisy environments.

•Experience with Heidelberg or Komori 640 press.

•UV or conventional ink experience

•Print brochures, books, cards and folders

•Color Aptitude: Must be able to pass a color differentiation test.

Skills:

Press Operation & Setup: Assist in the preparation and operation of the press, including installing plates and blankets, filling ink fountains, and managing solvent levels.

Quality Control: Monitor color consistency, register, and print quality throughout the run, making necessary adjustments to inking and dampening systems.

Maintenance & Cleanup: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the press, including washing blankets and cleaning ink rollers.

Support Functions: Manage paper stock (splicing), organize materials for upcoming jobs, and complete required production documentation/paperwork.

Safety & Training: Adhere to all safety procedures (machine guarding) and assist in training crew members (feeders/helpers)
