Job Description
Staff Engineers, Manufacturing Engineer with Rivian Automotive, LLC in Normal, IL. Manage the equipment development, schedule, and cost from the suppliers around the globe. Work closely alongside CapEx purchasing managers to support reporting on build requirements, track sourcing progress, and cost management. Create KPI dashboards and Cost models to build new program budgets with the cross-functional teams. Coordinate negotiations with the suppliers executing Purchase Agreements and Statement of Works (SOW's). Create the Request for Quotes (RFQs) and strategic sourcing processes for the new projects. Monitor CapEx spend forecasts (totals and timing) and ensure the program milestones are met. Work closely with the Program Management team to support prototype requirements, execute against build milestones, and track sourcing progress. Provide regular metric-based project updates and presentations to the management team. Support program management activities for new vehicle programs and launches. Ensure achievement of timing, cost, quality, and throughput on all key milestones on all projects. Improve the throughput of the factory and reduce the operating costs by implementing Lean Six Sigma Principles. Lead escalations with the leadership team when problems arise and develop mitigation plans to resolve. Develop and maintain the vehicle build plans based on the business requirements during the launch. Work with the integrators for process and equipment design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and ramp up to the target rate and quality. Lead the development of systems and processes in the factory to meet the build volumes as per the business requirements. Design and implement body manufacturing processes and equipment to grow production capacity in line with corporate goals. Provide product feedback to design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability without compromising product function or performance.
RQMTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field. Must have experience or academic training with the following design for manufacturability; CAD Software CATIA, SolidWorks and AutoCAD; manufacturing processes and systems design; PFMEA and Six Sigma; equipment design and integration; process simulation and optimization; robotics and automation; and program management. Salary Range: $99,000 - $131,000/yr.
