The role operates in a fast-paced, mission-critical data center environment that requires close coordination across 24/7 operations, technical teams, and customer-facing functions. The individual will regularly interact with cross-functional stakeholders including operations staff, engineering teams, senior leadership, vendors, contractors, and enterprise or hyperscale customers to ensure seamless service delivery. The position also requires experience working within unionized environments, including managing union labor, adhering to collective bargaining agreements, and maintaining effective labor relations while driving operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and lead day-to-day operations of a mission-critical data center, ensuring uptime, reliability, and adherence to SLAs.
- Manage and develop large 24/7 operations teams, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Serve as primary point of escalation-own customer experience, resolve high-level issues, and maintain strong client relationships.
- Oversee critical infrastructure systems (power, cooling, fire/life safety, security/access control) and ensure preventative/predictive maintenance programs are executed.
- Drive operational performance through KPI tracking, continuous improvement, and cross-functional coordination with engineering, vendors, and leadership.
- Manage facility security, environmental monitoring systems, and incident response, including root cause analysis and post-mortems.
- Own budgets (OpEx/CapEx), capital planning, and cost optimization efforts.
- Lead implementation and service delivery for key accounts, ensuring smooth customer onboarding and project execution.
- Oversee asset tracking, capacity planning (power, cooling, space), and long-term equipment strategy.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (SOC 2, SOX) and maintain business continuity plans.
- Operate effectively in union environments, managing labor relations and adhering to collective bargaining agreements.
- Drive strategic initiatives and operational roadmaps to improve performance and support business objectives.

Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Equivalent experience may be considered in place of a degree)
- 7+ years of experience managing critical facilities
- Data center experience
- Strong communication skills and able to work with customers, vendors – Proven experience with budgeting, Profit & Loss Analysis, financial planning, and cost management (OpEx/CapEx)
- Experience managing a megawatt data center
- Navy nuclear or military experience
