The Home Visiting Doula provides inclusive, in-home visits within a strength-based, family-centered support model to young mothers and fathers who would like support services . The Community-Based Doula will provide outreach services, prenatal education activities, and assist the family in preparing for childbirth through both home visiting and group-based services. As the Doula, you will advocate for the participant families by providing emotional support, parental education, labor and delivery guidance and post-partum care.
Candidate qualifications:
+ A Bachelor’s Degree in social work or human service, OR Associate’s Degree plus completion of Doula certification training, OR Associate’s Degree plus two years’ relevant social service experience.
+ Must be at least 21 years of age.
+ Able to attend in-person family visits and meetings required.
+ Proficient in speaking, reading and writing in English and Spanish required.
+ Valid driver’s license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required.
Core Responsibilities:
+ Establishes trusting and nurturing relationships with program participants and their families.
+ Maintains regular contact with participants in their home to provide information, education and resources that will prepare the parent and her family for the birth process and postpartum.
+ Attends and supports the laboring mother and their family or support person(s).
+ Assists families in initiating and strengthening the parent-child relationship.
+ Improves family support systems by providing information about community networking and advocacy.
+ Assists identified families in establishing goals and creating a plan for the accomplishment of those goals, including the collaborative development of a birth plan.
+ Assesses family functioning for safety and ability of family to care for children; determines appropriate interventions.
+ Develops and facilitates pre and postnatal education and parent support groups.
+ Maintains positive working relationships with all members of the agency team, referring agencies, and other community resources.
+ Assists with community outreach efforts, targeting local hospitals and medical staff.
+ Participates in the on-call system, as required by program, including being present for after hours and weekend births.
+ Bills Medicaid according to the program guidelines.
+ Completes accurate documentation and maintenance of files, including timely submission of Medicaid notes as required by the funder
Job details:
+ Compensation: Range starts at $21.15-$23.25/hr; offers are commensurate with experience. B ilingual candidates may receive additional financial compensation.

+ Schedule: Full-time, hourly; general business hours with some flexibility required for evening visits and attending after-hours births.
