Job Description
The Detailer/Paint/Fiberglass Technician’s responsibility is to perform the duties below on a regular basis and meet customer satisfaction standards as well as company sales and safety requirements.
The position requires the team member to work 5 days per week and 8 hours per day according to the schedule agreed upon with your manager.Â
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assess condition of gel coat and recommend proper maintenance protocol
- Polish and wax gel coats and various painted surfaces
- Choose, mix, and apply epoxy to wood or FRP
- Perform gel coat/paint cosmetic repairs
- Possess knowledge of various fiberglass cloths and their applications and apply to work
- Possess knowledge of proper operation of hand and hand-held air/electric tools and apply to work
- Possess knowledge of bottom repairs and painting procedures and apply to work
- Grind and layup simple laminations
- Understand the proper uses of marine grade fairing materials and woods
- Maintain finishes to industry standards
- Follow all procedures pertaining to safety and personal protection equipment
- Ensure quality of work performed
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid drivers license required
- 2 years of experience in fiberglass repair and paint finish application (preferably marine, but not required)
- Must provide own hand tools
- Ability to speak and read English in order to follow instructions on work orders as well as understand product and manual instructions
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job (see below)
- Must be able to complete assigned work in an efficient and timely manner
- Strong work ethic and personal commitment
- Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals
- Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
- Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
- Ability to work comfortably around water
- Ability to work in tight spaces
- Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet
