The Family &
Graduate Housing team manages the housing units and leasing process for the
students and their families living in our graduate-upper division residence
halls and apartment complexes. This role is responsible for the leadership,
management, and coordination of residential communities in apartment complexes
and graduate upper division residence halls. They will work collaboratively
with colleagues on campus to support the University Housing mission and vision,
build safe, inviting communities through leadership, supervision, crisis
management, and implementation of a residential curriculum.
Job SummaryCoordinates residential curriculum, community development, emergency and crisis response, and facility-related issues across three apartment complexes and two residence halls. Provides leadership in meeting the varied needs of residents, including domestic and international students and their families, visiting scholars, faculty, and staff. Supervisors will engage and implement University Housing's inclusion, culture, and climate initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
Supervision
Supervisors engage and implement University Housing's inclusion, culture, and climate initiatives.
Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate professional staff (live-in residential staff) and student/residential staff.
Coordinate staff intervention regarding resident concerns, conflicts, and crises.
Meet with residents to resolve emergent issues.
Facilitate regular staff meetings and staff development.
Develop and implement staff training for live-in residential and program development staff.
Plan, implement, and evaluate exceptional service delivery for Family & Graduate Housing with a specific focus on service and learning experiences for residents.
Community Development
Direct the residential curriculum delivery process and identify the goals of the residential community specific to the halls and apartments.
Plan, implement, and evaluate a broad range of inclusive, educational, recreational, and social programs that support the varied needs of residents and the mission of the University and department.
Initiate projects to enhance and improve services offered to residents.
Provide direction and oversight to regular programs, including an onsite afterschool program.
Serve as liaison to community programming partners: International Hospitality Committee, health care providers, and local agencies.
Leadership
Provide direction and support for annual and strategic planning.
Prepare budget requests and participate in the development of Family & Graduate Housing budget.
Plan and facilitate professional staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Represent University Housing in campus, regional, national, and international forums.
Lead the residential curriculum outcomes development process.
Administrative
Act in the place of the Director of Family & Graduate Housing, including signatory authority on all Family & Graduate Housing accounts when the Director is unavailable.
Coordinate the dissemination of information to residents and assist in developing marketing materials.
Attend public meetings as a representative of Family & Graduate Housing and cultivate positive public relations.
Serve on and chair, as needed, various committees on the department and Student Affairs level.
Respond as professional staff for emergency issues, as needed.
Authorize and review all research and assessment projects conducted in Family & Graduate Housing.
Serve on call for after-hours emergencies as scheduled and keep emergency and crisis response procedures current.
Serve as the Family & Graduate Housing representative on the campus students of concern committee.
Lead the annual staff review process and support the development of unit assessment tools and metric reviews.
Monitor curriculum strategy output and budgeted events.
Evaluate program technology use and develop or refine tools to support financial and technology-related processes.Work Schedule, Travel, or Other Job Expectations
Night and weekend hours are required. Serving on an on-call rotation, which can include holidays, is required.
